"Great Place To Break Down"

Hi all
Thought I would post some pics of my new dio.
This dio depicts a Sd.Kfz 232 6 Rad scout car (Italeri 1/35) during training exercises in Germany which has unfortunately chosen a stream to go kaput in. The crew members are trying to assess what has gone wrong.
Had a lot of fun doing the groundwork and stream on this one. Probably a bit too much open ground actually!! Hope you like.

Did a pretty good job, if u want u could make adent in the car for more effect, later

Sweet dio! Nothing wrong with the "open" space, great water effects, looks like it's really moving. Figs and the vehicle look wonderful, nice job!

Just on that open space, I'd be happy if your average dio was the size of a model railway layout!!

Very nicely done. How did you make the water. Looks a little too opaque.

Really good concept and execution. It would have probably added a bit of drama to have the water a little bit deeper, like maybe halfway up the wheel or something like that, but that's just me. The only other thing , and maybe this is just the lighting, is that the Panzer Gray on the vehicle seemed a bit too faded out for that early in its service. Both minor points that don' take away from a very good scene. Keep up the good work. Chuck Thumbs Up [tup]

Zouave146 I take your points, both valid. On the weathering, I did consider the age of the vehicle but in the end the urge to weather got the better of me!!
Anyway if I hadn't weathered, someone would have said that it needed more weathering!!LOL.

Zokissima the water is artist's acrylic medium. I tested a small area before I did this dio and it dried quite clear. Unfortunately on a larger area it does look a bit milky.

It looks good. I do have one thing to ask. How do you paint the wheels to look real and muddy?

I know what you mean on the weathering, in the end you've got to do it the way you like because, you're always going to be the hardest person to please. Keep at it!

I painted the tyres flat black, then went around with Flat Earth and painted the tread grooves. Then I just smeared some brown pastel chalk on the tyres, but not too much.

Very nicely done on this dio. My only comment is the color of the water. I figure it should be a bit darker for a more natural water stream look. But everything else is fine.
