Band of Brothers Dio Ideas please

Out of the book or the movie, what would make the best dio, my vote is for the time when they are facing off with like three panzers and a company of Germans when the US armored division finally shows up. The one where that one guy kills his first German and the Bazooka team almost gets taken out by the tank.

I thought about when they were in bastone in the winter, when they moved through the snow covered forest. I thought it would look good if the Easy Co. were in their foxholes and a couple of german snipers were moving up on there position(I think thats what happened). Just an idea.

Your idea of the Carentan scene was the first idea I thought of. That would be a killer dio! Another cool one would be the assault on the big guns(88's???) on D-Day.

Ooooooh! I got one. The one where winters pops a smoke but it doesn't go off so he runs way in front of the company and is coming over the dike to see a whole battalion of SS troops and starts unloading with his M1. It would be L shaped

I honestly don't know how you could pick only one scene from this movie. You'll have to make a series!

So long folks!

YES! one of each chpter in the book. We wanted those wings, stand up and hook up, Duties of the latrine orderly, Look out hitler here we come, Follow me, move out, healing wounds, hells highway, the island, resting recovering and refitting, they got us surrounded-the poor bastards, the breaking point, attack, The patrol, the best feeling in the world, getting to know the enemy, drinking hitlers champagne, The soldiers dream life, postwar careers. Whoo that's a lot! I think the training, look out hitler, follow me, move out, hell's highway, they got us surrounded, attack, the patrol, and drinking hitler's champagne would be the most interesting ones to make.

Either Bastone or the river crossing to take prisoners. I would love to see any of them as I can't do it myself and I loved both the book and movie.

Im planning on building the one where they take out the stug with the bazooka this fall. That was my favorite idea. I am also planning out a dio where Winters and some men take out those guns firing on Utah beach.

i think the guns at utah would be a cool one....its probably the most famous one cuz winters got a promotion after that raid, and it was very vital for the boys on the beach!
other cool ones would be:
the guy (forgot his name) who runs alone past the 88s in bastogne...you could have the germans confused just looking at him....and him just running past.
a bunch of guys hiding under a fallen tree in bastogne
the raid on carentan
the one where shifty takes out that gunner in carentan
two guys standing at the window where a machine gun is shooting and holding a grenade ready to throw it in
if u feel like makin a dio with aircraft, make a bunch of small scale DCs and mount them on stands with guys jumping out, have tracers flying everywhere
a bunch of guys straped to parachutes trying to get free once on the ground
AND my favorite its not from Band of Bros but it happened in holland, its from a book from a series, the book is called The road to Arnhem by Donald R Burgett ( i highly recomend it, one of the best books ive read):
a guy was ambushed by germans, started screaming firing his gun, dives for cover under a german tank...(yikes) notices he used all his grenades...but finds an apple in his pocket, quick GI thinking, runs out (with his teeth) pulls the stem of the apple, runs screaming at the germans, throws the apple at them and the germans run for cover and he gets away from it... THAT WOULD BE AWESOME TO DO A DIO OF!!!

How about the one where that guy chucks grenades at the retreating germans and hits them in the back about ten times.

I like the idea of the attack on the guns, I could have 1 gun destroyed and them moving up on the next one with the Germans accidently firing on the third one not knowing their not that far with the Jerry's at the third gun taking cover and trying to tell the gunners to stop. Oh Ya

BOB definately has some great scenes. I would like to do the scene with the one Sergeant (can't remember his name) who got left behind in that town during Market Garden and hid in the culvert with all those Germans less than 15 feet from him.

BUT: If I were to do just one movie-inspired dio.... The final battle scene of Private Ryan with Tom Hanks firing his .45 into the front armor of the Tiger tank. That's the perfect embodiment of pure will.

two ideas...

Crossroads (#4?): Have Winters and his men peering over the top of the hill at the mg42 position or have them shooting up the whole battalion of SS guys (near the end of the episode).

I dont remember the episode, but its the one when the Allies break into a town right after Bastogne and Cpt Speirs runs across the town to contact the other Allied Force...and then runs back

That would be the town of Foy. Episode #7. They took it in early January if i'm not mistaken.
My vote goes to episode 9 - Why We Fight. Do a diorama of them intering the labor camp. It would be a rather tough one phisically and mentally, but would be one hell of a diorama. Doesn't have to be the WHOLE camp, just a section or so would definitly get the point across.

What kind of guns were firing at Utah? I know they weren't 88's. I would love to do this dio too!

I think they were firing 88's and 105's. Could be wrong though.

How about in Holland when they crossed the river to evac the British Paras?

Edit to add:

How about a different twist? In the Special Features section of the DVD, there's a bit where Bill Guarnere and another of the Easy men (I can't remember which one) are in Bastogne for an anniversary celebration or reunion. It's modern day, they're in their seventies about, and they're reminiscing about the winter of '44. At one point he points out over an open field, doing the "There they was, and here we was" thing. You could model that scene, with them standing in a break in the treeline, with figures of airborne troops just visible back in the trees. Sort of a "
gone but not forgotten" feel, if you get my meaning.
