Bradley in France
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 8:43 PM
i got this idea for a Dio, and its an M2A3 in the French countryside, and some US Inf. taking a break and playing football. (a lull during my dream invasion) i want to know some helpful ideas, like how to put in trees, whether i should have them on a dirt road, and how to show that its France (a flag on the ground, a road sign, Foreign Legion troops surrenduring...) i could use any--is recon the word?--photos that could help me in this.
Thanks

Bryan;

I assume your idea is a "what if?" type of diorama. If so you could have the Bradley on either the road, the roadside, or in the field. It is your choice. However, with the use of landmines in modern warfare not too many AFV's simply pull off the hardstand and park for this reason.

That said, my suggestion is this. Have the Bradley on the "road" with a figure or two manning the vehicle as "cover". Have your football game in the adjacent field with maybe some livestock (no mines where there a living animals "get the idea") Trees could be used to line the roadway and the Bradley could be partially using these as cover and concealment as well. At one "end" you could have part of an intersecting roadway where you could have a roadsign with "Paris 15km" or "Riems 128km" etc. This would indicate where the Bradley is in France.

As far as "recon" I think you mean reference photos. You can find lots of useful info and photos by visiting travel agent websites or look up websites of the French wine country to "see" what the countryside looks like.
I hope this helps.

Cheers;

Gregory
