SS PANZER:

For your idea. If you want to reproduce the gun pit from Band of Brothers the previously suggested insulation foam is the way to go. It's cheap and easy to sculpt into the shape you want. For reinforcement as shown in the film you can utilize a few different methods.

If you watch the assault on the guns you will see what I am describing here

1. Use toothpicks or small twigs found locally for the upright pieces. The weave part can be done with old cassette tape sliced thinly and woven in and out of your uprights.

2. Use toothpicks or small gauge wire for the uprights and weave small gauge wire in and out of the uprights.

When you are finished you will have the "support" required to retain your mound. Glue in place and top with sandbags (do not spoil your hard work and use commercial kit sandbags) Make your sandbags from tissue and real dirt or use Milliput or similar epoxy putty.

I hope this helps.

Cheers;

Gregory

i think youll need a bit more tahn some wood glue for a core to the mound. get some wood, or some insulation foam board, those work well. id pick up some celluclay in place of the glue for the dirt, but if you dont have any other choice, put down the glue, and sprinkle some sand over it, followed by static grass. thatll represent earth better.

Run a couple of access and travel trences into your emplacement and you'll have a cool project. You can also use wooden slats or logs to line your gun pit to keep the side of your emplacement from crumbling from pressure waves from the gun firing, and any damage rain would do to a dirt emplacement.

For my flak defence i was thinking off putting the gun in a ring of drit with a layer of sandbags on top like you see in the band of brothers movie when they assult the 105's.I was thinking of making it like this.....Make a ring of wood glue that way it will look rough and soon as i do that put down a layer or two of sandbags around the top then when it dries had hardens cover the glue in grass i think it will look great tell me what you think.
