some stuff you'll need,

for the tree:
Woodland scenics (WS) polyfiber
Some oregano leaves
Either some Thinned white glue (50/50), WS sprayable glue. I know the WS stuff can go through the airbrush, not sure about the regular thinned glue, or some spray adhesive, this works the well, it is very sticky.
White glue

Method,
Take the polyfiber and tear small sections (a little goes a long way) stretch it and form it around the tree branches where you want alot of foliage. then, spray it witht the glue mixture of your choice while it is on the tree and sprinkle the oregono leaves all over it. Try to cover up all of polyfiber.

For ground cover-
WS or Verlinded static grass.

method,
sprinkle the grass where you want it. Then cover it up with a coat of thinned white glue (50/50) by spraying it.

thats pretty much the basics, Avoid using pebbles from around the yard as it will look very cheesy.

Nicholas,

The Flakvierling is one of my favorite kits. I also plan to throw it in a diorama based around a Hansa Systems product (these are great kits by the way. I just completed the Railroad Signal Tower). I also have the Hansa Systems Normandy Barn. I intend to place the Flak in the barnyard courtyard, and cover it with some hay. I got the idea from a picture in a book series, "Panzer Colors".

Good luck with your project.

Help with 1st diorama: SdKfz 7/1 in Normandy

hello,

i am looking for some help with what i hope will be my first diorama.

the kit will be tamiya's 1/35 SdKfz 7/1 Flakvierling, and the base i plan to use is from Hansa Systems, no.35006, called "Diorama Street Base".

I couldn't find a link to the individual base, but if you scroll about half way down you'll see it:

http://www.hansasystemsusa.com/products.htm#kits

the setting i have in mind is a france / normandy summer. i will be using DML's Panzer Riders Lorraine as SS troops sitting/standing around, and probably some verlinden tank crew in relaxed pose (i couldn't find any half track crew in the poses i wanted).

the note with this Hansa base says "A twig for a tree, some pebbles, lichen and grass from WOODLAND SCENICS [their caps] to complete this easy diorama".

i am in the UK and have found online stores selling WS stuff, but i admit i am at a loss as to exactly what to buy.

what do i need to get re ground cover , trees etc and what glues or sprays do i need.

i have my regular kit-making stuff and white glue, but that's about it!

sorry for the long-winded post, but i'm really keen on getting this right!

any help would be much appreciated!

kind regards,

Nicholas
