Is it true you get someone else to build them for you? This is what I've heard/...

Hmmm...a Panther A in Belgium (1944, I presume?), possible?, but wouldn't a "G" be more appropriate for the Ardennes? I feel that if it is an "A" it should have zimmmerit, but, somebody built a nice scene for you.

Steve

James, yes, what you've heard is true. I have several modelers build them for me.
For armors and dio's, I have had Mr. Tanit Chankham ("Art Instructor") building for some
six years. Here's his picture :

So far he has built 100+ dio's, 200+ armors and some ships, planes & figures.
You may be amazed browsing at the list of his works in this menu :

Steve, you're right about the type and location of the Panther. It was my fault, I was
not so keen about history so sometime I matched the tank with the wrong scene. ;-)

what catches my curiosity is why don't YOU do them... I mean it's cool to have someone do them for you who is experienced, but why not participate in the hobby in a more fullfilling way?

Maybe he has his reasons...and we can't absolutely say that he is not finding fulfillment in having others do the work for him.

Dwight is right, I have many reasons. First of all I had built too many models myself
(of all 1,800+ kits bought, some 300 are still unbuilt, some 100 are loss/damage write-offs, some 400 were built by "Art Instructor", some 200 were built by other modelers, so the remaining 800 kits were built by myself and they look extremely ugly, I don't dare show them). Secondly I want my collection to grow fast and to look good too. I think it's not uncommon to have others build models for you, and this happens in every country of the world.

Actually, I've finally fulfilled my ultimate dream - to build a military models museum.
My 4x6m showroom has been finished and four new showcases have been acquired
and filled up with planes and ships. Armors and dio's will still be kept in and around
my house including my bedroom. Relocation of models are still going on, I hope to be
able to show some pics in the near future. It's too bad that due to limited land space,
I could not have a bigger showroom. Anyway, this showroom will take many years
to be filled up. ;-)
