January 1986 FSM (available in the back issues) has the answers you require. There is a full article on the Star Wars Return of the Jedi Speedbike with a full Endor diorama. I think it was even done as a shadow box type. Great article. Pick up a copy and you will see what I mean.

thanks ralph, i've seen other people doing it thru pictures on the net, it just blew my mind on how they actually do it..

The quickest way to get some basic ideas is to go look at the model railroad sites - this question is a perennial favorite and somebody is always coming up with new ways to handle the problem. 1:54 is close enough to O scale that scenery products designed for it will look fine, but 1:11 is going to require scratch work on your part. Still, it's not that hard to do, certainly easier than scratch building vehicles, buildings, etc.

hey guys,do you have techniques for forest diorama 1:11 and 1:54? Thanks... It will consist mainly of soil, rocks, grass and some plants.Ive heard of using old unused brush bristles to recreate high grass blades,is this true? thanks.
