Found snow making material
Posted by archangel571 on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 4:55 AM
I thought i 'd post this since most of the tips i found for making snow in armor diorama would be to use the woodland scenic snow.

Anyways, I was at Ragshop (equivalent to Michael's, though NJ gets them both) getting some spray-on glaze for my mom's project and n the same isle came across this bottle of white things called Jumbo Snow-Tex, made by DecoArt. I opened it up and took a look and it's pretty much white paste mixed in with very fine small pallets to get the snow look. On the side of the bottle it says it can be thinned or cleaned up with water and it dries in 2 to 3 hours.

I won't really be trying it out until probably later in the year with a snow dio base for my Sherman, so I thought I'd just get the name out and see if anyone had used it anyways. I think the concept with this product should be about similar to those micro ballons i 'd been hearing about. It seems really opaque as far as the white color goes, so I don't know if it will really be good for 1/35 as a scale.

Thanks for the tip. It sounds inexpensive enough to experiment with.

16 fl oz. for $5.99. It should about cover two full 9X12 bases with no problem there.

Sounds too thick to me for 1/35 scale applications. Microballoons are still the best bet as far as I am concerned.
