HELP!! How do I make realistic looking grass??

It does indeed. It's designed for model railroads, but it works well in other scales, too.

In the December 2005 issue I have a "Build your first diorama" article that shows how I used it for 1/35 scale groundwork. I hope you'll find it useful.

I too concur-although as I told Genn on another post: As far as ground work don't forget to check out your spice cabinet or back yard. Oregano makes for great leaves at this scale!

You can also make taller grass by cutting 3/8" to 1/2" long pieces of sisal or jute rope. Fray apart the fibers and glue in irregular clumps. I then fill in areas around the tall grass with static grass, as well as other plant materials.
Old house painting brushes are good sources of long fibers too.

Don't use astro-turf!!.......Theres a very bad story that backs this up!

I am looking forward to reading the article on the first dio. When does the Dec 2005 issue hit the streets?

Do you recommend laying down celluclay as a base first, and then the grass?
If so, do you paint the celluclay before adding the grass, and does the grass need to be painted or is it natural looking enough that you could go without?

Also, what scale does the product mentioned earlier work best for? I am looking for something that would work well in 1/35 scale. Thanks.

Static grass works well for 1/35th scale, at least for short grass, not so good if you are trying to make something taller, like say a wheat field. Make your groundwork first. If you are using sand or dirt over the celluclay, glue that down first, then add the grass. Most static grass needs to be painted and you need to airbrush it. Do not try to paint it with a brush, although you can highlight it with a brush once you have airbrushed the base coat.

Wait .... your the one who did that part of the article. that helped me a little but i can't find the thing that you put mold or wutever into to make the dioram (all my hobby store has is a mold of rocks, even though i could just get the real ones outside

The groundwork you can buy from the company listed in the artcle, but you can just as easily construct groundwork yourself.
