I am just getting ready to list my copy of the Roy Porter Model Building Masterclass book on e-bay for $40.00.  If you are interested let me know and I could ship it, as it only weighs 1.2lbs.

It is basically new.  I received it new and read it once.   If interested you can reach me through the forums or at gawrycht1968@yahoo.  Thanks, and good luck in your quest!

Go Flight;

Do not pay $138.00 for that book.

I have it, it is an excellent book and worth the retail price but that has to be one of the amazon-associates Censored [censored](SCAM-AZON I call them) Censored [censored]selling at that price.

I bought mine from a friend who runs a local publishing house. I will find out how much he charges for the book and email you. In Canadian Dollars with postage and lead weight attached I don't think it will come out to $138.00.

Cheers;

Gregory

It is an excellent book and full of all kinds of reference material for many subjects.

Hi,

Just looking at past posts and this one caught my eye. I've recently started a liking for architectural modeling (I'm an old Rte. 66 buff)  and looked for Roy Porter's Buildings book on Amazon. They have it listed for $138.00!  Shock [:O]  Is it really worth $138.00?

Aren't there any websites outthere that will tell me pretty much the same info?

Kevin K.

I never finish anyth

sspanzer:

In answer to your question.

Here are the following references to use when making your building:

Average Brick: Length 3.1 mm Width 1.5 mm Thickness 1.6 mm in 1:72 Scale

Door 6' 6'' in 1:1 Scale = 28 mm in 1:72 Scale

Window 4' 0" in 1:1 Scale = 17 mm in 1:72 Scale

These are the basics of measurments you will need for construction. I find it easier to draw my plan out in scale and make copies to use as templates for laying out the design of the building.

Hope this helps. The other suggestion is obtain good references prior to beginning. One book I ould suggest is Roy Porter's - Model Buildings Masterclass - Windrow & Greene Publishing

It is an excellent book and full of all kinds of reference material for many subjects.

Cheers;
