It's too bad Synergy Dio Products aren't still around, now there were some building kits! Also, you can check out some buildng sets from Mini Art, they're vacuformed pieces and require a little work, but the accessories that come with the sets is great, window frames, balony railings, etc. Even has street lamps and propoganda posters.

As Gino pointed out, practically none of the building sets come with vehicles or figures, but that's when it's time for the imagination to kick in!

I see some of the Verlinden dioramas appear to include figures, so that they're basically complete diorama kits, or so it seems from the pics on their website.

Don't think any of them do.  They are pretty much either just buildings, just bases, or base/building combo.  The figures in them are all availabe through VLS as separate items and are in the pics to show what you can do with them.

Thanks for the information guys!
I'm no stranger to resin and its "quirks", so to speak, having worked on Studio27 resin models before.

I see some of the Verlinden dioramas appear to include figures, so that they're basically complete diorama kits, or so it seems from the pics on their website.  I'm glad they don't come completed... there's no point to the hobby otherwise!

Thanks again all!

Hi Mark, welcome to the world of military modelling! LOL I'm also a car builder myself, and stumbled into dio building...

yes the Verlinden dio bases are really killer, alot of the older ones are ceramic and the newer ones are mostly resin pieces. However, they can be quite expensive (at least in Canadian $) They also sell alot of just building sets and you can create your own base for them, along with another company, Custom Dioramics, here's their site: www.modelmecca.com

Mark-they are not painted or assembled. And need a little clean-up. They are beautiful though.

Question on Verlinden diorama bases
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 7:33 PM
Hi guys,

Every once in a while I get curious and start looking at military kits, etc (I usually build Formula 1 kits), and I've recently stumbled upon some awesome looking Verlinden diorama bases.

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if they come ready made and painted, or if assembly and painting is required?  I've searched around for an answer but not really come up with much that's helpful as yet.

Thanks all,
Mark
