Ardennes dio finished.

Hi Everyone,
This is my contribution to the WWII diorama group build. Apart from some odds and ends its finally done. Its Tamiya's Sherman built straight from the box on a base of my making. Its supposed to depict a scene from the Ardennes. I'm not a regular dio armor/dio builder so if you see something not quite right feel free to tear into me-at least that way I'll know better next time! I enjoyed this project very much and plans are underway for another dio as I write. I'm now hooked on diorama building!
Please let me know what you think good or bad...........

Darren.

Great job! The pine trees are much better!

I think You have done a very nice job on the layout. Vehicle, figure and tree placement is very nice especially with the addition of the hills. With these in the

places they are I do not see any boring spots. nice job, Hope to see some more!

Thanks John!

Doing the GB has given me insight to a part of the hobby that I did not (and perhaps still) know about. Thank you for your advice and kind words, you shall see my next dio in the very near future. Hope you don't mind if I bug you for some advice now and then......

Darren.

Hi Darren,

Great dio. How did you make the snow, it's very realistic as are the trees.

Excellent dio Tango, this is pretty much what I'm planning for the current dio I'm doing, excellent use of the snow, especially the trees, now I've got an idea of how it should look. Don't know if it's the lighting in the pics, but to me the tank commander and tracks look unpainted? Pls correct me if I'm wrong!

Nice work!!

Thank you very much for your kind words guys!

For the snow I used polyfiller to make the groundwork, building it up in layers and used bits of foam to make the hills. All of this was coated in PVA and the scenic snow was sprinkled on top. The trees are also from woodland scenics, they are from the large tree kit, clipped to look like pines.
(Thanks to my mate John for donating them!)

The tracks and commander are painted, I see why you would think otherwise, I've put it down to lighting. Mind you, I recon the that figure could do with being lightened in colour, I'll try it later.

Thanks again,

Darren.

Darren, very good dio indeed, the layout is great, the snow and the weathering of the tank are very good too.I think in the photo, the tank commander is not paint yet,or is from the light.

In the overall,great dio,congratulations
