That fantastic diorama is the creation of our own djmodels1999! Hopefully Domi will pop in here and comment a bit on that build.

Fantastic diorama is right. I fancied doing one of the Sherman crashing over the wall and on to the little citroen car but could not find a kit of the car.

Wow, that would make for a fantastic diorama!  (That movie is great!).  I've also toyed with making a similar diorama, or of the scene one with the Sherman Tank coming out of the railway tunnel with speaker cranked!  Laugh [(-D]

HI J-Hulk,

Light dawns! Companies seem to cash in on each other's initiatives, so as soon as somebody produced a T-34-Tiger, a figure company would, of course, produce complimentary items. I'm only surprised it wasn't Andrea, their not-quite-licensed movie figures are brilliant.

So, Kelly, Big Joe and Oddball are out there somewhere... That puts a whole new complexion on the project! I foresee the 'gunfight scene' enacted under glass in my display case one day in the not too distant future!

I love the signature line I've seen here lately, 'so many models to build, so little time.' That sums up my hobby at the moment, I'm building more than I have for years and the projects are stretching out before me. GRIN -- if I have to die, it's the only way I wanna go!

Hi guys,

Either you're reading my mind, or great minds think alike... I've wanted to build that diorama for years! The problem is, I haven't a clue how to modify figures. Here's a question -- would you use a historically accurate Tiger, or the T-34-based vehicle used in the film? There's a company making a Tiger with T-34 running gear, not sure who they are but their add appeared many ties in FSM.

Cheers,

Wirraway,

One of the members of the Aberdeen Modellers Society has recently completed that very diorama!  The building with the gold covered in a tarpaulin, the three figures and the tank - it looks fabulous.  I don't think there are any photographs of it to link to, but he may be taking it to our Society's display at the Scottish Nationals in Perth at the end of April.  If there are any photos taken of it, I'll try and suggest to him that he posts a link here for you.

Good luck, sounds like quite a project.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

Its all in my head - now I just need to translate it into action !  Remember the scene in "Kelly's Heroes" where "Kelly" (Clint Eastwood), "Oddball" (Donald Sutherland) and "Big Joe" (Telly Savalas) all go out on foot to confront the Tiger Tank which is sitting in the town square guarding the bank full of gold ?  I'm going to call it "The deal"  As "crapgame" (Don Rickles) says in the movie - "So make a deal- maybe the guy's a Republican !"  Doing the figurines will be the tricky bit tho.
