Because it's your first diorama, try painting your base green first of all and then when its dry, paint over it with PVA wood workers glue (any DIY store ) and then sprinkle on some static grass. As for the crater, try a simple black painted circle surrounded by rubble glued around it and then just dirty it up a bit. They are not perfect ways but are very easy for a first try.

Here is the only remainder pic of what my dio looked like before paint.

As you can see, on the left, the rso, you can see the groves cut out for the tracks. You would have to do somehting similer to this for the crater.

Good luck!

You can use a variety of products for grass. Woodland Scenics seems to be the most common. If you have some strong dyes, you can also dye sawdust, and use that, as a cheaper method. Works pretty well, IMO. As for craters, Anthony explained the basics of it, but to make something so involved, I would not try it in your first dio, as its very difficult to get it to work right.

For grass you have to buy a brand, I use woodland sceneics stuff. For the crater you have to start off with base, then use putty over top of it. After that, before the putty dries, texture is with a tooth brush. Try vistiting my tiger dio post in the armour forum to see what the finished product looks like.

Wow!  I think you need to use some capitalization, punctuation, and check your spelling a little.
