Hi Ian, sorry took so long to reply I'm in the aircraft forum the most. Yes I painted the dam bomb on my Tamiya 1/48th silver, although I suspect it was probably sprayed black before the missions in real life.

You are fortunate to get to hear and see real Lancs. I can't imagine the sound in real life.

I love your diorama. I'm from New England, but I'm in London now and then.

I think the Imperial War Museum has a field maybe in Hertfordshire where they still fly spitfires and such.

You can check there website. The museum in London is fantastic.

went to my local model model shop today and saw a 1/72 scale 'raf' flag,just had to buy it and then i set too in making a simple pole arrangement out of plastic card and white cotton.very easy to make and now my dio looks a bit more finished. thanks for all the replies and there will never be any more yellow back grounds !!!!!....never knew you could buy tiny cloth flags !!! ...................thanks ian

hello wilbur wright, Always wanted to go to that museum, but it is a bit too far away to travel. Good thing is where i live at about half an hours drive, there is 'THE MEMORIAL FLIGHT' in lincolnshire, where LANCASTER PA 474 can be seen and watched flying, as well as other fighters. And just beyond that is 'EAST KIRKBY' which is a fine little muesum and holds LANCASTER NX611, which is a 'live' lanc' and can be seen doing a full run up of her 4 merlins and taxying out AWESOME SOUND...........i've got two of the tamiya 1/48 lanc's built up- a grand slam, and a b1.['POS']. and i've just started the dambuster, what colour did you do the mine in ??? tamiya says silver, airfix says olive drab, revell says grass green. yet all mines i've seen are black [needs to be done right]

Wow, amazing. How big is this thing?

Only one comment, and its with your photos, rather than with the dio. I'd suggest using some kind of other backdrop than that glaring yellow. One, it makes the pictures garrish, and two, it alters the tones of the rest of the image elements, such as your models, and does not lend a flattering light.

Excellent piece. All it needs now is the Squadron Commanders Dog from the Dam-Busters and you've recreated the movie in miniature.

As was said before a great way to display the Lancaster. I am actually on my way to attend my first meeting of a new modelling club here in Hamilton, Ontario and meetings are held at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum where there is one of the two flying Lancaster left in the world.

Again great build.
