Panzer IV recovery

Wonderful work. Love to see any engineering vehicles in the muck. This is beautiful.

 

I've been meaning to ask you, do you use commercial plaster buildings, or do you make your own?

Thanks very much Zo,I recieved a bunch of leftovers from a fellow modeler who got out of the hobby so yes when I have access to buildings in whatever kit form I do use them,otherwise I scratch them out of pinks insulation foam,balsa wood and cork.I find it to be alot of fun mating shapes together to form a building or fasad,as you will see shortly,still have three more dios to post.

am not familiar with "support vehicles."  Is this one based off a real piece of machinery? Or inspired by various rigs and then cobbled together?

Either way it's a great, unique vehicle in an as always excellent setting.

These recovery vehicles were a necessary and real armoured tank,they had to stay with the armoured advance and be able to assist any vehicle in trouble under battle conditions.Here are a few drawings which I used to build the recovery panzerIV.

I also converted a Panther to a Bergpanther,then one was released from Italeri. There are panzer III,Hetzer,TigerI and Famo recovery vehicles.

Very very kewl!  Those are some awesome drawings.  Where did you come upon them?

One kit my son and I have is the 1/72 Hasegawa Morser Karl and munitions panzer.  The munitions rig is really nice to have as a part of the kit.  I almost like it more than the Karl itself!  One of those "support vehicles" that, of course, the Karl can't do without if it wants to fire those monstrous shells.

The munitions panzer for the Karl is an excellent vehicle to build,even considered scratching one at one time but if you have one I feel you must have the other,they sort of complete each other.As to the plans,many people throughout my modelling yrs have helped with plans,drawings and pics,at the moment I am looking for a good set of Scammal Explorer plans in 1/35 scale,the ones I thought I had are still misplaced.
