Usually, the driver, gunner and vehicle commander do not dismount from the vehicle because they are needed to provide additional protection(and offer additional fire power) from the vehicle to dismounted infantrymen.  You can have couple of navy SEALs with marines conducting joint operation.

from what i've found, it looks like the LAV can hold 6 people and 3 crew, total of 9, would it be uncomon to see maybe all of the crew minus the driver disembark the vehicle to provide security? and if so could would they ever squeeze more than 6 passengers in there? just wondering because i'm going to have, i think 5 marines on the ground along with 2 spec ops guys clearing a building. would the spec ops even ride with the marines? share the LAV? or am i stepping too many what-ifs out of reality by now?

LAV-M Mortar Carrier, a few LAV-AD Air Defense versions, and other LAV support vehicles such as the LAV-C Command and LAV fitter vehicle with crane are/were also used.

I can't wait to see Stryker kit and I think some one did mentioned (armor forum) about Trumpeter may come out with it soon.

Yup, Trumpeter's is much better than the old Italeri/Revell version and really better than the ancient Esci LAVs.

The Stryker was not used during the Invasion of Iraq in '03.  Also, the Stryker is only used by the US Army.  The first Stryker unit deployed to Iraq was the 3rd BDE, 2ID from Ft Lewis, WA in spring/summer '04.  25th ID has also deployed Strykers as well in spring/summer '05.

For the model.  There is currently no Stryker model available at all.  Trumpeter is supposed to release on in plastic later this year and it is already listed for pre-order at Great Models and other on-line hobby suppliers.

Sounds like an interesting idea.  Since the invasion of Iraq was mechanized war, most likely those infantrymen were accompanied by some sort of armor vehicle.  Perhaps you can  add an  LAV with dismounted infantrymen.

iraqi armor dio (questions)
Posted by psstoff995 on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 10:15 PM
i stuck this in the armor fourum as well, first big question, i mean i know there is armor in iraq, but how likley would it be for a platoon of marines to bump into a t-55 enigma. i mean im not so much of a rivet counter, i like to make my stuff as realistic as i can, but i also have no problem putting a heavy artistic license onto my stuff. my idea was to have this pretty beat up, up armored t-55 coming around a corner, and a desent sized platoon of marines, maybe some spec ops guys mixed in, some kinda joint opperation, take it out. so a few dead iraqis, a captured guy, and an insurgent hiding out in a building.
