thanks for the tip mate. I shall try that next time I build water themed diorama.  ^ ^
yea the dio does look fine if you stand about 5 metres away with eyes half closed... heh ^ ^

my another problem is finding the right size acrylic case. I thought I measure the correctly but apparently there's no such ready made box in 28 x 15 x 16 (LWH). The closest thing I could find was 28 x 15 x 12... Besides have one custom made is very expensive in my side of town - in fact anything custom made is expensive over here. :(

... not to say that your dio doesn't already look fantastic... the water looks outstanding from where I'm sitting.

Have you ever used Artists' gloss medium gel? I highly recommend it for most water projects. You can bush on in layers and manipulate it slightly with each coating creating a flow / stream. It doesn't take that long to dry. Brush it on in waves, could be used in conjunction with other materials to "hang" water streams from emerging giant, will even smooth out the "crystal" in the surface water look that you're not completely happy with. It can be colored with paint, opaque or translucent, to add depth, tec.

You can pick it up at any arts and crafts store and all artists' supplies stores for about $11.00.

the problem was I have no way to control the flow and by just pouring on it won't stick on MS body...
this is something I will need to study and learn...

also considering this is 1/144 scale, I had to think of scale effect as well. In hind sight I should've used at least 1/100 scale or even 1/60 scale kits coz the water crystal is just too big for the scale but this particular kit is only available in 1/144 scale at the moment.

How about using limit gloss, like rivlets of water and drops ready to fall?  Water comes off cars rather quickly so I would expect it would be the same for a bot.

yea thought about that but putting glossy cost would look like toy - did the test on its unused legs
to achieve I will need to simulate thin clear resin coat with waving on its the surface - and that is definitely way out of my league... besides the kit itself is 1/144 - too small to handle for my hands. If Bandai ever released Z'Gok-E in 1/100 scale I'll give it another go

thanks!

wow, the water is really dynamic

you might want to add some gloss/semi gloss to the model itself since.... he just came out of water?

Hi
I would appreciate if someone could point me how to achieve that water wave effect when a big mass suddenly merged out of water... After few experiments I settles on below one but am not quite happy with the end result as it looks more like crystal stuck together than the water gushing away from the big mecha. I did look around but couldn't find the kind of effect when 18+ tall machine emerged out of ocean rapidly...

Also for the missile launching from its hand I was going to paint but decided against since I've never done that with the cotton.  Picture has been edited using the Photoshop to show what I had in mind though. Guess it should be more white smoke than anything else - please excuse my ignorance as the military modelling isn't my strong point? (Think that's why I build Gunpla instead ^ ^)

Sorry for the poor photo as I'm working out whether to put the base into the photo frame custom made or order the custom made acrylic case to put this one in.

Anyway this being my very first water theme diorama it's been a great learning experience.

TIA
