Hi JThurston. I had been a maintenance mechanic For about 20 yrs. with the gov't.One day my friend & I were repairing a hydraulic dock leveler/extender.We had removed the combination pump, motor & tank from under the unit onto a dolly.Rolled it down to our workshop we have in this building. My patrtner & friend,no less, has arthritus & carpal tunnel syndrome. As we were lifting it up to the work bech,we were almost there when he screamed in pain & dropped the whole thing over on me In a split second I tried to lower it & down we went.I collapsed 3 vertibrae & fractured a facet joint.I've had 4 surgeries with 3 or 4 more to go.The Powers that be made me take a medical retirement,as I can't fulfill my job requirements then know or ever again. The moral of the story,if you have sick leave to use,use it.If only I had called out that day&went fishing !!!!   Semper fi, rudedog

Thank you both.So it's safe to say Hanomag Did chassis & drivetrains for all variant. Gosh I love this hobby.Started back again from my child hood,[mostly cars.] When I retired about 3 yrs. ago.And I was a hitory buff,so it's helping from the culture shock of not going to work everyday.I was about 45 when I retired & this has been such a joy, mistakes and all.  Semper fi, rudedog

The company manufactured the chassis and drivetrain, but not the armored body (according to the Pazertracts on the 251). Only we call them Hanomags, by the way. If you were to say Hanomag to a German soldier in WWII, he'd think you were talking about a heavier vehicle that only Hanomag produced.

Hi Rudedog

Hanomag was the company that made them. It actually stands for Hannoversche Maschinenbau.

Though I've been meaning to ask this,it has'nt hurt my modelling abilities on German vehicles. Why are some 250's & 251's Referred to as hanomags ? The word must have pertinent origins. It's just 1 of those questions that drives me crazy.  Thanks ahead gang,    rudedog
