How to simulate a Water Surface

Here is a good article that I am using for my base of my USS Indianapolis 1/700 model, and it works well. The Liquitex Gel can be bought at a good crafts store or online. Hope this helps.

thanks for the suggestions but will there be any kind person who will scan the pages on tips on how to simulate water from the said FSM back issues and send it on my email?i dont think i can find and afford to have a copy of the above said back issues.i would most like be grateful to anyone who can grant my simple request.thanks in advance.

I paint the surface I wish to cover, and then pour on a type of varnish stuff which works quite well. You can get it a some hobby stores or maybey at a hardware store. It is very expensive though.

An other alternative is to use glass. I have seen it done where a painted and textured sea floor dips down under a sheet of glass. The effect allows you to see the lake bottom clearly with a sense of depth. Just be sure to hide the edges of the glass!

go to your hobby store. Theres a company called Woodland Scenics. They make a product called realistic watter. Just paint the surface where you want the water, let the paint dry, and pur on the realistic water. comes out really good
