WWII Allied dio, just finished
Posted by zokissima on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 9:47 AM

Well, it took me a while to get pics, and they had to turn out crappy. Oh well. Here's something I finished recently, just as a fun project. Wanted to add a lot of variance to the ground cover and foliage. The WC is...blah, I don't know. Probably Italeri. I got it off ebay as part of an auction, and it had no instructions. The half-track is the old Tamiya item, and was probably my favourite part of this project. All of the figures are Verlinden, and everything else (tree and house included) is scratch-built.

All comments welcome, point out anything I can use for the next go-around.

hey ZBig Smile [:D]--first off, i am not a 'diorama' oriented guy normally, but while surfing thru, i saw yours and i must say, i really do like it-- i have looked through the pics several times--the jeep and halftrack are cool, and great job on the scratched house and tree, but what strikes me are the figures and their placement-- the father trying to help out the (lost?)soldiers, the mother taking her wash down, and the young daughter looking over her shoulder at G.I.s-- a little slice of wartime humanity-- this scene probably happened hundreds of times in reality-- in my opinion you got it just perfect in your diorama-- super nice job manThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]--treadBig Smile [:D]

I AM a diorama oriented guy and completely agree; Fantastic job. Well built, colorful and interesting. I like the figure painting, especially the HT driver (Is he grimacing while taking off his helmet?). Great ground work and foliage- what did you use for the tree branches?

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, the figures aren't quite....reacting, shall we say, to the half naked chick, but it was just a fun little thing for me.
