Tarmac Material 1/72 scale

Try a little suitably colloured paint with flour, or chalk dust added.

It gives just the right degree of texture, as 1000 grit can be a bit too rough.

Try Woodland Scenics' material used for HO scale roads. For tar between panel lines, try an irrigating syringe from a medical supply place (or if you ever go to the doctor and they use one on you, or anything else for that matter, ask the doctor to give it to you rather than throw it out, I have a box of tweezers, syringes etc from my doctor) and use polly scale gloss black paint full strength and squeeze it into the cracks like caulk. I use plasticard. I cut the 'tiles' to shape, glue them into place with wood glue, paint them with a grey primer, then use a fairly liquid flat black and a fine brush to paint the tar, careful not to be too regular! The groove between the tiles helps a lot. Then I add markings (if any) onto the tarmac tiles, then I weather.

you could try 1000 grit wet,n,dry and use glue as tar?
the best thing to do is experiment with different things
