                        Okay, so I/m building an LCM for a diorama right now, and wanted to use a tarp on it and was wondering if that would be correct?  Not like a huge canopy stretched over the length of the cargo hold, just a small ttarp quickly rigged up to keep some gear from getting too wet or concealment.  Even If I cant find a reference, I may just go with it since there was so many landing crafts used there is a small chance one would rig up a tarp, I think.  Cant find a picture of what I mean, but was this ever done on landing crafts? specifically the LCM or LCVP?  Any ideas would be great, thanks, Ian

                        Not likely.  The more common thing was to have a tarp over the individual pallets of cargo or net bundles of cargo.  It is possible that the boathouse could have a tarp rigged over it for a LCM operating in the pacific during the summer to provide shade for the cockswain.

                        that is intresting because in the Sywave/Pit Road 1/700 landing craft kit, they include what looks like a big canvas cover for one of the LCTs.

                        Hi guys,
                        Both the LCVP and LCM had brackets for 'hoops' over the cargo compartment, but I don't recall any d-day photos of them being used in action. unless you know different...
                        A lot of cargo, men and material, was loaded by crane or nets over the side of the mother ships, so access needed to be unimpeded.
                        I have seen D-day preparation photos of larger craft, LCT's ect,  with cargo deck hoops, rigged for camoflage covers. I will see what i can find in the way of photos
