Farmyard update pics
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 20, 2006 2:08 PM
Hi guys,
Slowly been working on this dio during the past week so i thought i'd show a small update of some in prog. pics.
The general idea of the scene is a German escorting two Brit POW's through a small farming area while two elderly farmers look on in astonishment.
The British and German figures are from Resicast, and the elderly couple i bought via an ebay sale.
Still figuring out which height i will use for trees as they must clear the height of my  Historex "two wheeled mobile forge" that i hope to use.
Groundwork and stonewalls still need alot of work.

Any suggestions or comments welcome, thanks for looking!
Cheers,Shay ;)

Great work, sorry I know I posted in another forum, but what did you use for the grass?

Hi Zokissima,

For the grass i bought some plumbers hemp.It is very fine,in a sandy type colour available at most DIY or hardware stores.I simply hung it up and sprayed mist coats of Humbrols matt grass green over it and left it to dry.Once dry,cut the desired length i needed and glued it to the dio base.As it is only a misted coat;you get the colour of grass plus the colour of dried grass.Usually i tend to dry brush areas with various green colours and add fine strands of a paintbrush here and there.

Cheers,thanks for looking!

It's coming along nicly Shay.Smile [:)]

I came across a farmer figure and that wheel barrow you have on ebay so I think I'll have to order that base now although I still hav'nt found a supplier in the UK.

Dough's are doing some really great cow's at the moment too which would go nicly with it.

I just saw those figures at Colorado Miniatures. The geese cracked me up, I'm gonna have to get them for the project I'm moving on to.

It's a good link, Steve. And the geese are pretty funny.

I really like the farmyard dio. too.
