Sd.kfz 250/9 Color Schemes for Dio
Posted by DocTG on Thursday, September 4, 2003 7:39 PM
I'm interested in doing a diorama of a city combat scene using a 1/35 scale Sd.kfz 250/9. Does anyone have ideas for the camo scheme for such an animal in that setting? I could do a winter camo for an eastern front city scene, but I'd rather try something not white. Any ideas?

What year? What town? What weather conditions?

Narrow it down a little and it will all come together and make sense and look best :)

Ok. I was thinking of an eastern front town (perhaps Kharkov, Rostov, or even Stalingrad), but I want to avoid a winter scene. It might be during Operation Blue, the German summer offensive of 1942, after the spring thaw. However, this is not set in stone, and I was hoping the forum might have other, similar ideas. I'm not certain that this vehicle was used during the summer offensive, and most of the references I've looked at are rather vague about when and where it was used. They provides some clues about which units used it, however, principally the 116th Panzer Division and the 23rd Panzer Divsion, among others, but I'm not sure if any of these divisons were stationed on the Eastern front. I guess this is where I need help. I like the camo scheme of the 116th included in the Tamiya kit, but does anyone know to which front(s) that unit was dispatched? Thanks again for your help.

The 116th never went on the Eastern Front... Check this site for info on most other Pz Div. You might be able to close in onto a particular Division and a particular theatre, dictating colours and markings...

Thanks djmodels; that's helpful. At least I know what to exclude.
