Looks nice.  Can you give us some more details?  Is it 1/32 or 1/35 scale, or 1/48, etc.?  What kits did you use on it?  Any special techniques?  Etc., etc.....

Hey good job! You should post that in the aircraft forum as well. There's some guys there who might take a fancy to it!

OH knew i forgot something, The 262 is from tamiya (its the one with the kettenkradkraft), its all in 1/48th scale.  Some of the other figures like the officers in the corner and the guy working on the guns are from ICM.  The trees are made from an evergreen in front of our house.  Everything was built straight out of the box, slight modification to the gun covers so that only one is open.  Most of the techniques are straight outta FSM.

Nice layout, but you have some major gaps to deal with at the engine nacelle/leading edge joint, wing root/fusealge joint and in front of the canopy. Here's a picture of the real thing from almost the same angle as your first picture:

not to sound rude, but why is that relevant?

a diorama/model kit should be observed based on its merit, not the age or anything else of the builder who made it.

As it is, it looks pretty good, but as ajlafleche mentioned the gaps are too wide. Also, on the real thing the squiggles were sprayed on, and yours looks brush painted. (ssorry if im mistaken).

other than that it looks pretty good.

It would be releveant for the same reason we have a junior category. A 15 year old does not have the many years of building experience and knowledge base that we more vintage builders have. Also, a 15 year old might not have access to an airbrush to get a feathered edge to the camo or again have had the mentoring/experience to use the right type of masking to achieve a featherd edge with a spray can. I wouldn't even try that, though I know others have done it.

ya they are scratch built, the main body is from a crape murdle(or how ever you spell it) and the branches peices of evergreen (cant recall name, just find something that works) are hot glued on to the branch.  Then i just airbrushed a couple different shades of greens, OD, and brown

Sorry if I annoyed anyone with my message. Being 16 myself I dont consider myself a "vintage builder" but i find getting as much criticism as possible online helps me with my building skills. In general, I find posting my age tends to make people "soften up" on their remarks, which isnt productive.

How was the 262 to build? I've wanted one for a while, but I never could justify the large amount of money for the tamiya kit. is it worth it?

Ya it was a good kit, some minor flaws, such as those pointed out above.  Everything fit nicely, except the engine nacel (might have just been how i built it).  Instructions straight forward. Oh and the reason the edwilis(or how ever you spell it) camo pattern was hand painted was due to the fact that i don't have the right tips to air brush it well enough.  All in all, it was a fun kit to build.

If you ever want to buy the kit, but not pay the $35-40 on it, Michael's every now and again has 40-50% off sales, so its a little more down to earth price range :D

And the criticism cool, I posted the model so people could tell me what I did wrong and what I did right so I can make better models in the future

Very nice work!  I tend to agree that age does mater...  I'm just 25 Whistling [:-^] yep... that's my story and i'm stickin' with it! Angel [angel]  Seriously, I think this is nice.  There are a couple things I like and a couple things I think don't make a lot of sense.  First, the camo, I would not have noticed that the squiggles are hand painted instead of sprayed is that big a deal.  I must admit that I do not know how it is on the actuall air craft paint job of the period.  I personally think the camo is done well (hand or spray).  I still cannot paint a consistant skinny line with my airbrush so i probably would have hand painted it as well.  Second i like the ground treatment.  Especially the stones just surfacing.  Stones rarely are just ploped on the ground, they are a lot of the time mostly buried (like iceburgs).  I also like that the officers in the background are doing something.  I would like to have seen the pics show a little more detail of that.  Over all i think the composition is quite good.

Now, the things I think could use a little improvement.  The trees I'm not real nuts about.  Trees are hard to get right.  I know that they shoud be about that size and in all likelyhood would be a fir tree of some kind but these trees just look like juniper clippings to me.  Now to very fixable things.  The gas cans?  Are they filling that aircraft with just one five gallon can of fuel per wing?  And, would they just leave the can laying on the wing?  I know... pick, pick, pick... but I noticed them right off and it just did not make sense to me.  The one really big thing that bugged me and is easy to fix is,  that dude on the ladder.  Is he just far sighted or is he going to be working under that panel with a yardstick!  It looks right in the fist shot but in the third shot you can see that he is way too far away.   He needs to be close enough to be able to reach inside that panel.  Just pop that ladder up and move it a little closer.  And that would be my long winded My 2 cents [2c].  Over all though, nice work and an appropriate setting for the aircraft.

I didn't want to much on in the dio itself, so i left out a vast number of fuel drums/cans, and the ground crewman, isn't glued to the base, so he moves around a little.  Guess i wasn't paying attention to that when setting it up for pictures.
