Want to help with my dio?
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, December 9, 2006 8:55 PM
I'm looking for some input on my dio. So far, I am planning on intrenching a 88mm , a Krupp Protze pulling a 3.7. CM Pak, and a kettenkrad pulling a trailer.

Any tips for placement or other suggestion would be appeciated.

Thanks!

The kettenkraftrad could be going on or coming off the bridge to show the articulation between it and it's trailer...

 Oh, BTW nice pooch!

lovely scene. Im not a pro but tracks on the ground and dust on the floor (and rubble) for the building there...

You have inspired me :)

I decided not to put the building in and place the 88mm about where the building is sitting.

Your bridge is fantastic.I agree that the ground should have some tire marks.

The dio will be great.Keep sending

Thanks!  I still need to build the road up some to match the bridge, then I can add some tire tracks.

looks pretty good so far.  I'd build up the ground a little with celluclay, or some equivalant paper mache.  I don't know if you've worked with celluclay before, but just mix it with water and some white (paper) glue.  throw in some real dirt and any water-based paint, or a pigment to add coloring.  you can add tracks in it when its wet very easily, and build it up into an entrenched position.  if you're just going to entrench the gun in the ground w/o a completely sandbag wall, you might want to carve out a little of the ground where the 88 will be to give it more cover, and provide an explanation for where the wall of dirt in front of the gun came from.

neat idea.  keep working at it!

Sorry I misnamed your vehicle. That's looking good. Nice work.

Mr Kilroy, what are you using for trees ???Are you making them yourselves ?When pressed for time,I relie on woodland scenics.Thoug thay ar for "HO"  Thet have 3 lrge trees that fit 1/35th nicely. For HO, they are way oversize.I don't remember which types, but you'll spot them.Could be pine, oak or maple,But definately tall enough.     Semper fi ,  rudedog

For the trees, I used some local weeds. For the bushes I used Woodland Senic Lichen.

Do you think I need to paint the grass?  If so, what color?
