Buyer Beware on Evil-bay
Posted by mitchum on Saturday, January 13, 2007 9:06 AM

There was a VERY poorly photoshopped picture of a Bobby Allison car for sale with all kinds of glitches (they even found the postcard of a completely different car that was used to illustrate the racing "pedigree" of what was obviously a bogus deal by putting a picture of their car over the original) that was being discussed.

Someone said that even my model pics were more realistic than the pics of the real stuff used in the ad so I responded to an inquiry, tongue in cheek on both our parts, about the pic of my Wood Bros. Mercury and the accuracy of some auctions with this, thought ya'll might get a laugh............
-------------------------------------------------

Early Model, I'll have to get back to you on that request for a "buy it now" price. There are many factors that have to be considered like rarity, races won, laps led, how many are remaining and just what it really cost me to work up the intricate story it takes to run a scam like thi.......er.........uh.....auction....yeah....auction.....that's the ticket... of this magnitude.

I will reply to this inquiry after having consulted several experts on my staff, including, but not limited to, P.T. Barnum, Col. Tom Parker, Miss Cleo and that stellar individual who books the guests for The Jerry Springer Show. I hope you understand the time and effort it takes to fabricate..........I mean...compile such documentation and will be patient. The results will be Pulitzer Prize winning fiction.....I mean.........far reaching and misleadin..........I mean.........illuminating.

In the meantime, please feel free to buy...I mean, bid on....this newly discovered gem found just outside of Ashevllle NC under a tarp in the back of an old deserted whiskey warehouse. It was in such marvelous shape that all we did was run a Swiffer over it to remove the small coating of surface dust. Bid high and bid often, ya'll.

Just to clear up why this post belongs here, the picture is an ERTL '62 Catalina with Yesterday's decals sitting in front of my 1/25 scale shop area with wire fencing made from the metal mesh from a 1/1 air cleaner element and steel rod. In the rear is a wooden privacy fence made from popsicle and corn dog sticks with a ground cover made from HO railroad ballast.
