Mad dog and Englishmen
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 28, 2007 9:19 AM
Hi guys,
Here is a dio that i've been working on and off for a while, the figures are my first ever attempts at figure painting so there is room for some improvement!!The basic storyline as the title suggests clearly is a mad German Sheperd accompanying the Kings Own British Infantry on patrol in a quiet countryside area of Normandy.
Hope you guys like it,there are a few pics..comments and constructive criticism welcome  .
cheers,Shay

Great job, Shay. Turned out beautiful, the flowers add great color. First figure painting? Fooled me.

If/when you get a sunny day over there, take it outside and shoot some pics. Repost.

I think the figures look great! Wish I could paint them as well as that. Good job all round!

Hi Shay

Your dio is fantastic. The foliage and plants really bring it to life. Good Job. Your figures for a first timer are really well done! The only thing you might want to do is add a bit of shadow to areas like between the fingers, around the eyes and ears, nostrils, jawline and neck areas and then to add some highlights to areas such as the knuckles, bridge of the nose, cheekbones etc. I don't know what paint you are using but an excellent paint for painting figures is the Vallejo range. Other than that your figures really look good. The uniforms etc are spot on. I thought a nice touch was the eggs in the nest! It makes it real! The dog is also spot on with the colouring.

Well Done!

Cheers

Great diorama, but where's Joe Cocker?Smile [:)]

Seriously, that is a great diorama; I particularly liked the bird's nest.
