Nebelwerfer

 The russian soldiers position was played with for a while until I found the best look. These germans have been killed and covered before burial. It could be viewed in several ways, but I was going after a "fast withdrawl" situation where the dead and the nebelwerfer were left behind. The Soviets would then have been probally walking into the position, therefore he was a little sidetracked to see what was over in the ditch.

Sounds good huh? 

The detail, weathering, and thought you put into it are all excellent!  I didn't know, or think about, the backblast (although it drives me crazy when Rambo fires a LAW from the front seat of the helo in Rambo II without cooking the guys in back of him) - what I did wonder, however, was why the Russian soldier is coming up on the position from behind.  I'm sure there are lots of scenarios where this would, and did, happen - but by default you'd expect the Neberwerfer to be facing the Russian advance.  Despite that, I wouldn't ask you to redesign the base just for that - it's so nicely done I would hate to see it changed.  And like I said, I'm sure there were plenty of positions like this that were surrounded and then knocked off piecemeal.

Is that the ESCI 1/35 Nebelwerfer?  I have one that I abandoned partway through - if I remember, it was because I was too ham-fisted to be able to deal with the small parts without breaking them..

Now that I think of it, your right, blast marks around it would look very cool.

Thanks everyone for the constructive criticism. I actually never realized that. I normally try to research my subjects before building them but I remember, on this one, I just threw it together over a week.

I won't do it right away, but I will rebuild the scene with blast marks and move all the stuff away from the rear of the rocket launcher.

These are my sentiments also. The back-blast from a Nebelwerfer was rather intense. The crew would fire the rockets from a trench 30 meters away from the launcher. Anything loose on the ground behind the launcher would be blown away. The extra rockets could be stacked quite near to the side of the launcher, but definitely not behind it.

However, as stated above, your construction and finishing is top notch! Very nice visual appeal overall.

As AJ said above, the layout could have been through out a bit more, but the quality of the build, the finish, and overall style are just fantastic. Thanks for posting.

I like the individual elements here, all very nicely painted and teh Russian coming across two dead enemies makes a good story. The lay out could have been researched better, however. The Nebelwerfer is a rocket launcher and creates a very large backblast. In the position you have it, it would likely ignite the sandbag wall and bounce the flames back upon itself and well as igniting and or tossing all that stuff on the ground all over the place.

I love it! some people may say you over did the drybrushing, but personally I think you did it just right, I love the shadowing and highliting effect you gave it.
