Idea for my first diorama.

I've never built a diorama before or even any figures for that matter, but I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a scene that I'd like to do. I just wanted to run this by some of you experts and see if it sounds feasible for someone with little to no skill in figure building. I plan on using a small plaque (around 5 or 6 inches in diameter) to build the scene on. The scene would involve a freshly dug German grave and two figures, one standing and one kneeling. I don't want to get the thing to big and out of hand, but I thought of adding a simple tree near the head of the grave. I've heard that death is something many people frown upon when it comes to shows, but I think if I did this correctly it would be a tasteful look at it. Anyway, in your opinion is this diorama too ambitious for an amateur such as myself? Thanks guys!
Things could be worse. Suppose your errors were counted and published every day, like those of a baseball player.
Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases.
