Guys I need help with my next diorama.

I had a couple of ideas after watching HBO Band of Brothers series. It has a couple of nice shots of the sherman in action. The European scenery is also a good source for study.

You can screen grab pictures from the movie and study them. I 'm busy building Post WW2 models now so I 'm not sure when I will get to WW2 models.

Movies from WW2 are a good source of inspiration at least for me..

Good comments from the respondents, but remember that the Sherman was not only operated by the USA, nor was it only operated in the European theatre of WW2.

I have lots of images, a few of shermans I would like to post them but I can't right now, computeur mit be broken. but I have some ideas of my own.

How about a sherman going up a 60 degree angel hill, At Daily planet I saw a tank manufacturing company (forgot the name) doing practices of tank on a obstecule courst, man it was brutal for them, your should do the sherman on a obstecal courst should how impresive it is, or a scene with a hill.

I saw a articel on a another model magazine (millitary modeling) with a dio of a sherman going through a wheat field, by bolting the model to the base and making it snugh it will make a appearence of its heavyweight, but this is just a ideas, don't copie the same scene as that modeler.

Last idea, is a sherman in combat, what if your sherman was fireing at a taget or better, the taget is up close in the scene, fighting another vehicule like a jeep or another tank. or at least it found a damage vehicule on its way, its up to you.

i would do a dio of a sherman driving through a row of dragon's teeth. you know the weights that always got dropped on someone in the cartoons? that is what they are shaped like. a little taller and skinnier, but...youget the idea. they were made of concrete and the germans used them to stop tanks, because tanks couldn't drive over them, and they would be too close together to drive--sometimes even walk--through. the germs would sometimes string barbed wire between the teeth, and some places even had anti-personnel mines buried between the teeth. they were in rows a couple of miles long, and about 4-5 deep. to conserve fuel, americans had to go through these dragon's teeth. only enough were removed to allow the tank passage. first, they had to clear any barbed wire, then check for mines, usually with bayonets(stabbing the ground at an angle would hit the side of the mine, then they got the explosive experts to remove them), and finally remove the teeth themselves, using the mines sometimes, or just man-handleing them out of the way. as you can imagine, this would be a time-consuming process, temporarily stopping the advance. google has some half-decent pics. use the Wikipedia link, and read about it, as well as the pics. i have some pics of dragon's teeth somewhere, and when i FINALLY get my sister to show me how to post pis, (don't count on that happening this mullinium) i get those on here. hiope that was some help ther dan, and don't forget to post lots of pics.

I usually visit either local book store (like borders or barnes and nobles) or the library, go through their military history sections to get picture references.  It is a good way of doing research and doesn't cost you any (unless you buy the books you like).  Also, Internet is a great source too since you can find official military/correspondence photos as well as war time personal photos.  Good luck with your search.

Howabout something slightly unexpected, like a knocked out Sherm or german infantry storming one?

Best thing to do is google pictures to get the juices flowin'.
