                        I am making both a 1/35 scale military diorama and an N scale railroad layout (for my son). Does anyone know of a chart or spreadsheet that spells out scale ratios that defines (for example) how tall a building is...for example 10' in 1/35= __inches and etc....hope someone can help!

                        Welcome lash.

                        10' in 1/35 scale would be about 3-3/7 " in a standard foot rule. I made my own chart using MS Excel.

                        Awhile back I was wondering about using model RR stuff for dioramas and posted a question about how RR scales compare to the scales we work in. Someone (sorry, can't remember who you were but thanks!) put up a link to a site where I got these numbers.

                        F - 1:20.3
                        G - 1:22.5
                        #1 - 1:32
                        O - 1:48
                        S - 1:64
                        HO - 1:87.1

                        fun with numbers!
                        first do a 'feet to inches' conversion... (multiply feet by 12)
                        10 ft = 120 inches
                        now divide by ur chosen scale's denominator (160 for n-scale, 35 for ur armor) ...
                        a 10 foot tall object would measure approx. 3.42 inches in 1/35 or .75 inches in n scale....

                        i forgot to mention that in the UK, n-scale railroading is 1/148 instead of 1/160... sorry.

                        You sure do know your math. Good for you. Am pretty sure Calculus would be a breeze. I've heard Calculus is being taught there in High School. Pretty advanced huh?. We get Calculus here only in College.
