1:32 with 1:35 scale accessories

Different scales can also be used to incorporate an illusion of depth.  For example, if you use a smaller scale in the background, it might look further away than it really is.

This technique is often very handy in shadowboxes, too.  I've seen it go so far as to mix 1/48 and 1/72 aircraft in a shadowbox to make it look like aircraft in a hangar.

The actual difference is about 10%.  I have mixed 1/32 aircraft, helos, and civilian cars with 1/35 armor and see no issue with it.  You can also mix 1/32 and 1/35 figures in the same dio.  People come in all shapes and sizes.  The key is to keep constantly sized items, such as gear and weapons all the same scale.  For instance, do not mix 1/32 and 1/35 rifles together or 1/35 and 1/32 canteens together.  You can see some examples of my mixes at my Showcase #1 below.
