Some people refer to it as "Frankensteining" your figures.

Good luck and post some pictures of your progress!!!!

Welcome to the forum slim! Thank you for your service!!!!

If you are planning on modelling 1/35 scale you should be in luck....

My ideas:
Check out the british figures that come with some of the WW2 desert military items. Many of them are shirtless, short shirts, etc. You can take the torso and add it to a different set of legs, etc. The brittish 6pdr and 25pdr guns both come to mind. Buy the kit and steal the figures from it. One day you can go back and build the gun :) The Desert Rats figures from Tamiya are cheap, and many have short sleeve shirts, short pants, etc so same thing goes there, just take what you need.

Ball caps can be made by taking the German WW2 caps that are on many of the Tamiya German WW2 figure sets and just simply sand them to shape if needed. Or you can make them out of clay/milliput/putty,etc because a cap is kinda simple to make from scratch.

Post some pictures of your progress...

Good luck,

I have a dio idea from my last trip to Qatar. I've been wanting to do a Dio for a long time, but never had an idea for one. While I was in the desert last year, I had my idea, but have run into some problems. First, the figures. We are civil engineers in the USAF, and at the time (Operation Enduring Freedom) the threat was low, so I need figures with no flak vests and helmets. 2nd, we are REDHORSE, my unit wears a baseball style cap. Heads with ball caps are a must, it's what sets us apart from the other AF Squadrons. And finally, we never wore DCU blouses on the job site, just T-shirts. This poses an extremely difficult obstacle to getting the realism for the figures. I have scoured the net for months. Can anyone help this picky newbie?
I suppose I could live with the DCU shirts on, but flak vests and web gear would have to be an add-on in the figure kit. I did the Dragon kit w/ fallschirmjagers and cannon, and their bandoliers were put on over the uniforms. There is also the option of "shaving" the top shirt down to look like a tee, but it sounds tough, has anyone tried this?
Thanks for any help, and if I ever get this fiasco started, I'll be posting photos as I go, and a background story of the scene.
