Most doll houses and their fittings are made in 1:12 scale.  You can try looking at various doll house supply catalogs or websites for some of those little detail parts like mailboxes, Coke bottles, etc.

Not sure why his pads are on his ankles, that's where they were sculpted on by McFarlane Toys.

Thanks for your insight Capnmac, at least there are two of you that are helpfull here!

Of course the trouble with all this is that doors and windows come in all sizes (even bad ones).

Now, "modern" (on the US side of the pond) doors are 6'-8" or 7'-0" or 8'-0" tall, and the windows line up with the tops of the doors.  Now, soem of those doors can have transom windows over them (so a 7-0 door might have a 1-0 tall "light" above it).  Doors come in increments of 2" wide (mostly) from 2-0 to 3-0 wide.  Exterior doors used to be very commonly 32" (2-8) wide until fairly recently; the 3-0 door is a much better thing to get appliances (or troops in kevlar) through.

So, your door example is a tad snug, or it's in an older part of an older town--up to the observer to decide.

The thickness of the wall is what I noticed, and it looks pretty good.  A modern brick-veneered 2x4 wall is 9.5" thick; a 2x5 wall jumps out to 11.5" (draw enough floor plans for long enough, and the numbers just roll out of a person <sigh>).

A exterior door is typically 6'8" tall and 3' wide.  If your figures are 6" tall, then we might conclude the scale is 1/12.  If you want doors to be right, try making them 6.67" tall and 3" wide.

In the pictures, the window looks okay, but the door is definitely too small.

Just out of curiosity, why is the soldier in the doorway wearing his kneepad over his ankle?

I love your idea though.  Large dioramas can be really really really awesome!  Keep checking out dollhouse parts for common household items, like dishes, wall hangings, etc.

Hey gents, I know you all mostly work in smaller scales, but I usually work in larger. I am embarking on a diorama journey. I am planning on creating a large diorama utilizing McFarlane's Military line. I am planning on making an urban "post apocalyptic" scene. Not really pinpointing a specific era in time, but mostly modern buildings. Very large, talking 24" high buildings, etc. The supplies I have available make me wonder if they are good enough size-wise. I took some pics of one of my existing dios with the Military figures. The figures are about 6" on average. Please check out the pics, and let me know if you think the windows and doors are big enough for this scale.
