Turok, Son of Stone

   I like it AJ. It is a change to see something from the norm. I have looked at the Tamiya Dinosaur kits before and thought of doin some sort of fantasy dio. The Dino kits just beg to be used this way. I have the set with the Crocodile in it which i plan to use in a viginette with a US Marine..

   Is this something you have thought up or is this a scene from a fantasy story?

Thanks, Boomer. I've had the Indian for a while. I didn't like the idea of presenting him as a single figure. I looked a long time for a running bison but never found one at a reasonable price. Then I started to think back on the comic books of my mis-spent youth and remembered the Turok series in which an Indian and his young friend find themselves in a lost valley populated with dinos. I considered continuing withthe hunting theme, using a stegosaur or tricerotops. Last fall, someone had a stack of Tamiya dinos at a show and I picked up the raptor set with this scene in mind. It doesn't really parallel the comics in that there's only one person and Turok never had a horse. But the peril is reminiscent of the style of the comic covers.

What a concept!  I will be watching this one closely. Are you doing a step by step on the other forum with this project?

I loved those comics. Turok and Andar. They called the dinos "honkers" and they were always on a quest (in addition to a way home) to look for the plant that they would use to poison the arrows to be able to kill the bigger dinos.

I remember staying up all night (at least what I thought was all night) and reading them over and over again.

   AJ.....   maybe you could put another indian using that rock for cover. The story could go along the lines that he ( Andar?) was caught by surprise and cornered by the raptors. Turok arrives just in time and gallops through the raptor heard to save his friend. Personally, i think it would convey a more desperate story line.....

Wasn't there a spinoff comic in that series? I remember Turok having a son named Queeg or something like that, "Queeg, Son of Turok, Son of Stone" or some such.

Not a bad idea, Boomer. Have to check around to see if there's an Indian taking cover. (Heading off to milminwh.com.)

Edit: I think I'll be following your suggestion and getting this guy to sit in as "Andar" taking cover by the rock. He will likely not be holding the spear, however. Thanks for the inspiration.
