Squadron's Stug III in Action has a photo of one in Holland in 1940 and an illustration of one from Francein 1940. Gray, of course.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

They could also be found in Russia during 41-42...

They were grey for sure. From what I have read, they were too late to be used in France and were mostly used as training vehicles.

EDIT**

After reading a bit in my Squadron book on StuG III's, it says that 4 batteries of A's made it into service during the invasion of France in May of 1940. The above statement was from the Osprey title on StuG III's 40-42. Wonder who is right??

Hi,all! I'm building a StuG III Ausf. A, but before I paint it, I need to know where it will be. Since the A is early, I'm assuming it's grey? I was wondering what region these were used in, and what time frame. Would the Russian front be appropriate? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
