"Unavailable" sounds like (and usually is) simply saying someone else already took it. Try another one, and another, until accepted.

Your "accented character" issue sounds like you're trying to include characters like (') or (-) which some folks use as part of a chosen name. BTW, my intent was to show the characters indicated within parenthesis but actually would also include parenthesis themselves! LOL Some webistes won't allow anything besides actual letters of the alphabet and sometimes numbers, sometimes without any spaces too, for usernames. So just try different combos keeping that in mind. Read any 'error returns' carefully and try to decipher their intent.

I've got a copy of that book you're looking for but overseas mail even at parcel post for magazine rates doesn't make much sense if you can secure it locally. I've also been to Oz and gotta say I didn't want to leave!

I'm not sure I'd part with either one for only $25 (US) dollars, I've really become attached to the two of them, had them for over 25 years and they're both still in Very Good to Excellent condition.  See if you can find 'em on ebay, if not contact me agian, but I can tell you now, 25 bucks ain't gonna' get 'em for ya'.

It's $25US according to fsmbooks.com, getting closer to 30 ozzies. What is its condition? And how would I go about paying you, precisely?

I would stay away from wiring. It costs between $20-$30 a time. I know that you used to be able to get a postal order made out in US dollars at the Australia-post office. That costs a couple of dollars and is what I would suggest. I thought that you would be able to get it directly from Kalmbach books (publisher of fine scale modeller etc).

 Have you checked the large hobby stores in major centres like Sydney and Melbourne to see if they stock it. Another good place to check is the Technical Book Shop on Swanston St,  Melbourne. They have all kinds of model stuff and may well have Shep Paine's books, and if you are extremely lucky a copy of Ken Hamilton's book on auto dioramas (which is now valued in the hundreds of dollars at second hand book dealers). Use some initiative and you'll find it easily.

A postal money order can be used for many transactions you'll have to indicate that it is for the correct amount in the currency of the country you are sending it to. Your post office should be able to help you with that.

Wiring funds or money transfers can get pricey. As someone else mentioned the best course is to get a debit/credit card...check with your bank about that option. In a global economy, relying on paper money and checks isn't smart. Electronic transfer is and will be the only way in the future. 

It really depends on how you send the money. I use Paypal for most of my Ebay purchases and this will automatically change to the currency of the purchase. For other foriegn stuff that i buy, i use my credit card. Tis again converts to the currency of the thing im buying and also gives me 30 day security on the item im buying.

Its really no biggy. Set up a paypal account to start with. They take a minimal ammount per transaction but its worth its weight for the convenience.

Keep waiting. I know that sounds harsh, but before the Internet, that's how we did it.

Try Ebay for the book. Use paypal and a bank account.

Ask in the WANTED section here and on other sites, especially ones in Oz.

Get a prepaid credit card and order it that way.

Send the money to someone here and let them get it for you.
