Dry Lake Bed
Posted by dallasa on Thursday, May 29, 2008 2:56 PM
I am considering doing a basic Diorama of an X plane landing on a dry lake bed and wanted to know what tips you guys might have for making an accurate lake bed in 1:72 scale (by the way I will use a clear acrylic tube to mount the plane in a just before landing nose up pose).

Well smoothed Celluclay with no texturing additives. Get a color picture of the lake bed and add that shade of acrylic paint to the Celluclay. Don't forget to add some white glue to the mix. I also drill holes in the base to give the Celluclay a bit more to attach to.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I agree, celluclay is good for just about any groundwork, even makes great water!

Another idea would be useing drywall spacle, letdry and then carve   the cracks with a paper clip paint seal and weather.
