Aaron,

Buy LOTS of Squadron White (or whichever putty you like best), you are gonna need it!  I have to say that this is the biggest challenge I have ever had in a kit, and I took nearly 4 months to complete it (a LOT of cooling off time Angry [:(!] ), but I am proud to say that I managed to beat it into submission!  One caveat, the styrene is very soft and easily damaged.  I did use the kit engines, which didn't dome out too badly, but were a LOT of fiddly work.  The fitting of the resin office into the fuselage is probably the worst part, lots of stock removal on the fuselage and the resin both.  Also, the wheel wells were too deep on my kit, i nearly ruptured the upper wing before I realized that....check the dry fit carefully......

I learned a lot and it is one of my showpiece kits (and one of my fav a/c - I have 7 1:72 kits in the stash!) I'll be watching for progress pics, keep up the good work, looks great so far!

at first I thought you were speaking of the FM kit, but now I gather it's the one from Minicraft. Not a good sine, but I'll make do. I probably won't be starting mine for a couple months as I have a couple projects in the works right now. Also where did you get the Pavla interior?

Actually, I am speaking of the F.M. kit.  I haven't done the Academy or Min9icraft kits yet, so I can't comment there, but other Acad kits have been reasonably decent builds...

you know it's about time that one of the major players in the game gave us a good quality PV-1 in 1/48th along with a good A-26 and A-20 series. They come out with the same generic stuff in one rehatched form or another, but we need new stuff. I'd love to see Accurate Minitures jump on this bandwagon!

As much as I would like to see a new PV-1 or PV-2 I don't think it will happen. Their just not sexy enough and the manufacturers know that if they keep repopping the F-15s, F-16s, P-51s and 109s they'll make money. And in the end that is the deciding factor. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm tired of another "new tool" Mustang or 109. I've got the Minicraft PV-1 in my stash. One of these days I'll get around to building it. Of course I'll have to scratch the bombay, bombardier and aft crew positions. I keep hoping that somebody will do some AM or PE for it.

Happy Birthday Bondoman. I turned 45 on the 4th. Good too see another Leo!

and a early Birthday wish for you as well Squeakie!

Hey, Kevin, check out  http://www.pavlamodels.cz/katalogy/detail.php?k=cockpits&c=C72047  I have this set for the Acad/Minicraft 1:72 and it is outstanding!  I ordered mine directly from Pavla, about 2 years ago, no problems at all, had it in about 8 working days!

I have alot of pictures (walkaround type) of the PV-2 located in the Tillamook Air museum.  Not sure how different the -2 is from the PV-1, but they look pretty much they same to me.  I love the look of this airplane and have the Minicraft PV-1 1/72 kit in my stash awaiting build time.  Anyone who would like to see these pics let me know! Have a few good shots of the bomb bay since it was open and I was able to get right up in there for the shots.

I have built the minicraft 1:72 early Ventura, but converted it to a (probably inaccurate) RNZAF PV-1.  The kt supplies the parts for the cylindrical turret, and also what I now realise is the under-nose gunpack for a later PV-1.  I painted over the nose windows and made a new nose-cone from balsa.  The interior detail was poor, the fit was pretty average, and it sure isn't my best model, but It looks like a PV-1.  I used the Ventura Publications decal sheet.

Oh yeah definately blunce! I have been collecting what I can from here but would really like to see the bomb bay and inside cabin area. Pretty sure if you click my user name it gives links to my e-mail if you can't post them here.

Oh way way cool that is exactly the sort of pictures I need.  The Squadron bookshave no detailed pics of the bombay or cabin. Just the pit. Thanks a bunch for going to the trouble! Thumbs Up [tup]

Ok I'm putting together data on two or three planes, and one of them has become a problem. It's the British version that uses the Bolten-Paul turret. Where can I get one, and if I have to steal one off another kit, then which kit?

I'm going to build one with the gunpack used in the raids over Northern Japan, and looks like I may have to scratch build some parts in the nose area. And I may do a third one flying out of the South Pacific.
