Well, it has been over a year, since participating in the FSM site. I have been working a Trumpy P-51B for a while. I wanted to replicate some fine work I saw in an issue of Aircraft International.
I painted on the shark teeth...very challenging and a first for me...decals just didn't seem right.
I still have a lot to do, but am making satisfactory progress

On the Bench: 1:48 HobbyBoss Ta152-C; 1:48 & 1:72 Hasegawa F-104G NATO Bavaria
In queue: 1:48 Academy F-4B & a TBD Eric Hartmann bird
Recently completed: 1:32 Trumpeter P-51B
looks great Hutch, just like the P-51 pictured in the article! Something about the fast back canopy that captures the feel of a WWII aircraft more than the later bubble top.
Welcome back & thanks for posting!
Jason
Thanks, Jason. Yeah, the B has the looks of a muscle plane.... The D takes on a totally different look of grace in its lines....a beautiful plane.
Cadillac of the sky, any new pics? Really cool scheme.
There are some that call me... Nash
I'll be posting some soon. Got kinda busy with work, home stuff, etc. Landing gear is on and starting to delicately fashion the open canopy.
Stay tuned.
I finished this one up, for the most part. I did not add seat belts because I plan to add a pilot figure at a later date.
This was a very fun kit to build. There were very few fit issues...the only notable issue was the engine cowling, but the paint job kind of masked it, so it is not noticeable, unless you really looked for it. the landing gear is a bit wobbly, so I hope it holds up over time.
As mentioned before, I painted the D-Day markings and shark teeth...it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
I saw this build in an issue of Aircraft Models International and just had to replicate it. This aircraft was flown by Capt. John Bennet with the 352nd. I used EagleCals decals that focused on George Preddy's planes. Enhancing the kit was Eduard PE, Quickboost props, and True Details wheels.

What gives? I posted my pics as I always do with Photobucket...I see the only the tags above. I don't like the difficulty Photobucket added to the new look. Sigh.
Very nice paint work, hutchdh, I do like that hand-painting.
Is it me, or this that another one of Trumpeter's ill-fitting canopy sections?
Dre,
Yep....it took a lot of finesse to get it to look decent.....
Looks awesome Hutch. Nothing like an early '51 in full invasion stripes.
"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
Very nice build. Your shark teeth came out great!
