I have this kit in my wish list on mega hobby lol plan on doing it after I finish my british diorama (Albion 3 point refueler alongside a Spitfire).  Where did you get the *** pit details from?

Joe, I think Eduard has a support group for just such a thing. =] Great looking office. Your cockpits are always nice to see come together. Very deliberate. Very clean. 

Lovely build so far Lawdog, very nice tidy build. I am subscribing to this as well, I have found that I have a new and perhaps repressed admiration for all 109's!.

Tanker, I don't know what bleeped out means, but other than the photoetch seatbelts, it's right from the box.  Thanks for stopping in.  

I've been away for awhile with life stuff, but I have been working on this (and the other 109) periodically.  Anyways, I had no issues whatsoever on assembly and was adding Montex masks in no time. 

Reinert's G-6 had a fairly standard 74/75 over 76 scheme.  Similiar to Steinhoff's that I recently built.  After adding all the masks, and black preshading, I used Mission Models RLM 76.  I do like this paint, but I'm running low on their thinner.  

Next I fired down the 75.   

I then taped off the typical splinter scheme and fired down the 74.  I did fade this color a bit with Mission Models Tan. I then removed the masks.  

The underside.  I did a bit of postshading...

After Alclad Aqua Gloss, I added the decals needed.  I had no issues.  

I then accented the panel lines with AK Dark Brown wash.  I'm really starting to love this stuff.

I wanted to add some streaking and grime aroud the engine.  I used AK Streaking Fluid Panzer Grey.  This takes practice but I'm happy with the results. 

I think this is about right.  Not too overboard but noticeable.

I should be wrapping this one up soon.

A mighty fine 109!  I’ve been in some kind of funk lately and haven’t mustered the motivation to finish what’s on my workbench. I’m glad to see your builds are wrapping up nicely.

Toshi, I'll now seque into that topic. Since I was building this one and the Eduard kit together, I had full intentions of comparing them then telling you guys what I thought....the Pros and cons if you will.  I finished both last night and must say they are both great. Here's my take on them. 

1. Both kits are wonderfully engineered and well detailed.  They both put the old Hasegawa kit to shame.  I don't think Eduard missed a rivet.  Except for a few small details here and there, they are equal in these regards.  

2. Eduard gives you photoetch and canopy masks.  I like this feature with their Profipack kits.  Tamiya gives you decal seatbelts and decal instruments.  I suppose it's all preference. 

3.  Eduard was able open all the gun barrels but Tamiya couldn't do this?  I found this strange as they certainly have the technology to do this.  Perhaps it's to throw a bone to the aftermarket companies. That said, I used the Tamiya wing cannon pods on the Eduard kit because they were better detailed, but I used the Eduard's barrels themselves.  A bit of surgery.    

4.  I like the design of the Tamiya kit's landing gears as it's impossible to get the rake wrong. Not to say Eduard is bad, but Tamiya is fool proof.    

That's all I can think of.  I'm sure there's more that I forgot.  I see many more of each in my future.

Anyways, here's the finished Tamiya kit.  To recap its in the markings of of JG 77 Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert in the MTO circa late 1943.  Other than PE seatbelts, it's pretty much out of the box.  I used Mission Models paints and Montex masks for the main markings.  On this particular build the masks performed flawlessly (not so much on the G-2...see that thread).  For weathering I used AK Interactive enamel washes.
