S-3 Viking Kit

Hey guys, thanks for all the info. Sounds like an ok kit, so maybe I'll give it a try!

I've got this kit too. Actually haven't had a chance to build it yet.. Panel lines are recessed and detail is acceptable at a distance, but not overdone. Poorly detailed cockpit. There's some aftermarket stuff available for it (eg. Black Box cockpit), but it's hard to come by (out of production or overseas - www.Hannants.uk.co). The Italeri kit is a re-release of the ESCI as Bassman said above. To my knowledge and according to my own recent web searches, I couldn't find any Revell 1/48 S-3's, unless they're so old that no one talks about 'em anymore. Don't write off Italeri without seeing the kit for yourself. I think it can be made into a very nice model if some effort is put into it.

Irecently made the "italiaeri" kit.its not bad apart from the very dark smoked canopy!!
it's so smoked,it hides the detail in a very open cockpit.the instrament panels are decals.

Revell I think also makes a 1/48 kit.

I have an 1/48 ESCI Viking at home which I can check out (unmade and I think I know where it is) if you like, but these two links should be helpful and confirm that the Italeri Viking is the ESCI one re-released:
