                        Hi Greg & Chris
                        You are correct in including an antenna wire on a Russian Spitfire. They used a lower frequency radio and even Lend-Lease Mk IX's had to have the aerial wires installed. Of course, any RAF a/c after the Battle of Britain would use the TR1133 radio which was VHF and used the radio mast as the antenna. It is very easy to pick out in a photo, even if the wire is not seen, the little pulley on the trailing edge of the mast is used when an antenna wire is used and is removed when it is not.

                        Hey Gregers looks really good! I havent been to SH in a while guess I need to drop by over there.....I just noticed something about it though.....no antenna wire? I often dont put one on mine either....or is it there and I cant see it?

                        It's easy to make a model of a plane look like it is "factory fresh", but serious wear on the camo isn't as easy........nice job.

                        Thanks guys, i'm glad you like it. the one thing that i am not happy with on this model is the exhaust staining, thats something that i have never been able to do succesfully, this model was built as an experiment to see if the sanding back idea would work.BTW it's the airfix mk1a in 1/72. cheers.                         Looks good gregers. Looks like many of the photos I've seen of Russian or German planes in winter camo.

                        here's a spitfire that i recently completed (but i still had the canopy to paint and radio wire to attach when i took this photo) just thought i would post the pic here for you to take the pi... errr i mean give advice on how i can improve my techniques Big Smile [:D]. it was brush painted standard RAF green/brown camo then given a generous coat of flat white then sanded back with 1500 grit wet"n"dry untill the camo started to show through to give the effect i was after (it took three attempts), please let me know what you think. cheers.
