ajthomas, the Hasegawa FA-18C is the best I know of. The Monogram one isn't bad either, it has some minor fit problems, especially around the nose. And it has raised panel lines but it too makes for a nice rendition of this neat A/C. But the Hasegawa Hornet is far superior.

The Hasegawa F/A-18C is the best Hornet kit in 1/48 scale, but it is not a "shake the box" kit. Takes a lot of TLC in some areas and aftermarket kits to improve the interior detail.

I agree w/ the rest of the fellas, the Hasegawa Hornet is the way to go..!! Yes you do have to takeyour time in building her but the results are sweetTongue [:P].

If you like raised panel lines, the RM kit is the better of the two. The RM wing is not too tuff to cut up for arranging the leading and trailing edges of the wing, but it's best to use two kits for the best effect (cut the flap off of one wing with some extra meat on it and cut out the opening on the other wing) - IF you what that effect.

Want to see what the skilled modeler can do with the Monogram kit ? Go to:

I would definately go for the Hasagawa kit. Yes you do need to give it time and TLC, but the results are worth it.
