Baa Baa Black Sheep Zero
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 2:23 AM
Does anyone know what model of zero the Black Sheep kit is? I'm looking at one on ebay and I cant tell if it is an a6m2, a6m3, or a6m5. Was it just a hollywood replica of a modified aircraft? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.Smile [:)] Thanks T.L.

Howdy, Deathbringer!

The 1/32 Revell kit is the same old A6M5 they've always offered, and I believe the aircraft used in the series were modified Texans.

J-Hulk is correct in that all of the Japenese "Zeros' used in the TV series were Texans that went through the body shop and converted into what looks like a Zero.

Unfortunately I saw one of them crash and burn a few years ago at an airshow. The pilot was killed in the fire.

Thanks Guys I was afraid of that. Has there ever been a 1/32 a6m3 produced? Vacuform, Resin? It seems such a waste to miss out on that model. T.L.

Hmmm...I think the Doyusha 1/32 kit was an A6M2 Type 11, but I'm not sure.
Then I think Swallow had a 1/32 Zero as well, but I can't remember much about it.

I have the Swallow kit and it's an A6M2.

Hmmm...maybe I'm confusing the Swallow kit with the Doyusha kit. I thought one of them was an A6M5. The memories fade...
