Anti-static tubes

I know I somewhat ask this question ahwile back, but I didn't get alot of answers. I have some wire to reproduce anti-static tubes. In my case, the end of the tube has a nozzle or "tip"on it. How do you guys reproduce this tip?

I've tried epoxy, CA, plastic sprue...all do ok but it's difficult to get them in the right shape and even porportions. Especially when you've done 10, and relize all 10 look different.

Any ideas on this? Thanks.

Are you talking about the static dischargers found on the trailing edge of wings, tail etc? If so there were several types used by different aircraft. What are you building? Give a little more information and I might be able to help.

The aircraft is a Mig-29. The tubes are flared at the ends looking a bit like a funnel or nozzle. If need be, I can hunt down a pic for ya.

It sounds like you are asking about static dischargers. Which version are you building and what scale?

I am. It's the 1/32 version put out my Revell some time ago. Not the current Revell Gewrmany one. Although I think the model itself is the same. Just reboxed.

No, these are static tubes. The Mig-29 has one on each verticle stabilizer and two on each wing.

Those items on the trailing edge are static dischargers. You can build them out of stretched sprue. The tips were aluminum caps with fine wire dischargers attatched.

The artificial feel force pickup probes were located just aft of the leading edge about 4/5 way down. It consisted of two probes bent at a 90 degree angle with the opening facing forward. You can just see them in the photograph.

Maybe I'm just not good with streching sprue yet, but if I did that, I'd have 10 that were different diameters. That's the reason I went with the wire. However I didn't even consider the ends at the time.

Is there a trick to sprue stretching to make it all the same size?

Try Evergreen Plastics. They make pre formed sprue in various thickness you can use. It would work great for the scale you are building.
