Who has the best 1:48 version? Are the wheels fixed?
What is the overall color scheme? I have seen flat black, is that true?

Hasegawa makes a beautiful Ju 87 in 1/48. I have built many 87Bs, a D, and I'm currently working on a G-2. I believe Revellogram reboxed the Hasegawa kit (Ju87B-2)at a reduced price.
The color scheme depends on the theater. Europe was RLM 70/71/65, Mediterranean was RLM 78/79/80. Some 70/71/65 schemes had the topsides oversprayed in Sandgelb, with patches of Schwartzgrun & Dunklegrun showing.

Have to agree with Pix. Hasegawa are the best. Yes the gear is fixed, but I've not seen any pixs of an all black scheme.

Hasegawa's is indeed the best, and R/M/Pro Modeler sells it in their own box.

Never heard of an all-black Stuka. Every one I've seen has been 70/71/65 or the desert scheme as stated above. Well, except the early ones and Spanish Civil War Ju-87As that had the lighter 4-color scheme of the time (61/62/63/65, I think it was?).

Well the gear is fixed but you can do 'spatted" and "unspatted" versions.
Italeri makes an unspatted one in 1/72-which is a good scale 'cause your mistakes are smaller.

Ditto on the Hasegawa kit. This was my second kit I did after returning to modeling after a 10 year hiatus and it was a very enjoyable build- highly reccomended.

I did the B version in the desert snake scheme. It won first place at a local show !

There was a control line flying model of the Ju87 that was all black and called the Black Knight.
The scheme was concocted from Testors imagination. It didnt fly all that well either!

I built a Hasegawa 1/48 kit...awsome. I never heard of a all black stuka. I myself modeled my finish like the eastern front with the temp. white camo.

I have seen some pictures of late D and G Stukas painted in a single color upper surfaces - believe them to be RLM Black Green - not sure though but understand that during the latter part of the war things were rather hectic and regulations were not always followed (funny how that works - follow the regs and don't have the equipment on hand or ignore regs and it's operational in time)

Another Stuka question
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 7:34 PM
I'm hoping to build a representation of the Stukas that flew in Poland at the start of the war. I read recently that those were actually Ju 87 B-1s, not B-2s as represented in the Hasegawa kit.

Has anyone ever heard of a 1/48 kit of the B-1? Thanks

First, welcome to the forum, amadave.
Its an easy fix to turn a B-2 into a B-1. Fill in the flaps on the lower cowling. Instant B-1.

amadave - I just realized that the exhaust stacks are different on a B-1. The markings, and their locations, are also a little different. Here's the difference in profile.

I have a sneaking suspicion that some Schlactgruppen machines were painted black for night operations on the Eastern Front, but can't remember for the life of me where I saw this.

Apparently the the venerable Stuka was in use on the Western Front as late April 45, albeit with 262 top cover!

Yep..your right Pix!
THe was totally redesigined the the new Jumo powerplant., including a deeper rounder radiator bath for engine cooling. The supercharger air intake was enlarged . And the exhaust was different.

The only thing that I could (see) was replaced by compact 'spats' with a telescoping upper collar to allow for oleo compression.

That new revi bombing aiming reflecting sight. And bigger bombs too.

Its from the 'Ju-87 stuka in action' book.
