Posted by ILuv3ggs on Monday, February 24, 2003 9:19 PM
Hey guys,

First of all, thanks to everyone who help[ed me find kits of certain aircraft.

I am again having difficulty finding some aircraft, and was wondering, that if anyone knows of a kit/conversion/decal sheet of the following:

Australian Phantom IIE (possbily a decal sheet)
Australian Vampire Jet
Australian Spitfire
Australian Mustang
Australian Kittyhawk

I am trying to complie a 'to build' list of Australian Aircraft. Not totally bothered about the scale/age/quality/manufacturer

Thanks to any who can help me.

Airfix, puts out a 1/48 scale Kittyhawk Mk 1A ( P-40E ) kit No. 05109.
It comes with decals for No. 77 Squadron RAAF and No. 112 RAF.

You might want to check out

Aussie Decals
PO Box 94
Redbank

www.hannants.co.uk stock a lot of their decals, including F4E, but I imagine you might be better off shopping locally Smile [:)]. They also have a Czechmaster sheet for an RAAF Vampire among others. Just try "RAAF" in their database search, loads of options to chase up!
On the bench: 1/35 Dragon Sturmpanzer Late Recent: Academy 1/48 Bf-109D (Nov 06) Academy 1/72 A-37 (Oct 06) Revell 1/72 Merkava III (Aug 06) Italeri 1/35 T-26 (Aug 06)

Tamiya has a 1/48 Australian Spitfire, If I recall correctly, its a late model Griffon Engined one.

Also, in the Tamiya range is a 1/48 Australian Bristol Beaufighter, if that aircraft intrests you. I'm not sure if its still in production or not.

I've been looking for Australian Phantom decals for a long time, I thing the best bet would be to gather up a few generic aftermarket sheets including Australian roundels and fin flashes and generalized high visibility Phantom stenciling. I know Superscale used to have such Phantom stenciling in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help guys,

The phantoms actually kept thier American Serial Numbers, main difference was the RAAF insignia instead of the American one and were assigned the out-of-sequence serial prefix 'A69' (which relates to america somehow - more info - http://www.f4aviation.co.uk/Oldstuff/2002/aussief4/aussief4.htm )

So i figured i could just get a decal sheet with Australian Insignias and just use that instead of the American one or something.

As for the Beaufighter i have found a kit and a store that stocks it :)

So far i have a list of 24 aircraft that were used by Australia (more to add yet) - out of those 24 i have found 14 kits and know of some decals and know where to get them from.

That website is legend !
Again thanks for the help guys.
